The Influence of the Work Environment on Improving Employee Work Ethic at Pt. Permodalan Nasional Madani Mekar Unit Tallo 2 Branch, Makassar City

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the work environment on improving the work ethic of employees at PT. Permodalan Nasional Madani Unit Mekar Branch Tallo 2. The background of this study is based on the importance of the work environment in supporting employee performance and work enthusiasm, where less conducive work environment conditions can reduce productivity and work ethic. This study uses a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The population in this study were all 57 employees, who were also used as research samples. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, while data analysis used validity tests, reliability, simple linear regression, t-tests, and coefficients of determination. The results showed that the work environment has a positive and significant influence on employee work ethic. This is evidenced by the t-test results, where the calculated t-value is greater than the t-table (2.553 > 1.672) with a significance level of 0.013 < 0.05. The resulting regression equation is Y = 15.455 + 0.312, indicating that any improvement in the work environment will be followed by an increase in work ethic. However, the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.106 indicates that the work environment can only explain 10.6% of the variation in work ethic, while the remainder is influenced by other factors outside this study.
